From her renowned stage roles in: Dreamgirls, Ain't Misbehavin', Harlem Nocturne, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Showboat, (in the US, and in England at the Prestigious Royal Shakespeare Theater), Romeo & Juliet, The Colored Museum, Spunk, Barnum, Nunsense, One Mo’ Time, and Cotton Club Gala, to name a few. To her more memorable television roles as: Aunt Helen on The Jamie Foxx Show, Auntie Rae on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, Mary Lou Wentz, on Disney’s Good Luck Charlie, Henny, on Lifetime’s MOW, Petals On The Wind, and as Nurse Isabel Mendez on CBS’s Code Black. Right up to her feature film roles as: Madame Destiny in, Blood Pageant, Nurse Alice, in My Sister's Keeper, Reba, in Good Luck Chuck, Ms. Quincy, in Semi-Pro, Mona, in Cornered {For which she won the 2009 Best Actress Award at the New York City Horror Film Festival} and Marva, the vivacious cheerleader, in Wildcats. Ellia wrote and published her book I AM THAT I AM, A Journey Through Add-Ol-Less-Sense with Xulon Press. And wrote her first single, THAT’S WHAT FAITH IS/YOU GOTTA BELIEVE IT. She also sang with the (New York City) Community Choir as one of their solo recording artists. English is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority.

With a career that spans the globe and seems to defy any concept of time, Georgia Native, Ellia English has had an indelible impact in Theater, Television and Motion Pictures.
Ellia was born the middle of nine children, to a Baptist Minister and a Domestic Worker, In Covington, Georgia. She grew up singing in her Church Choir and School C
With a career that spans the globe and seems to defy any concept of time, Georgia Native, Ellia English has had an indelible impact in Theater, Television and Motion Pictures.
Ellia was born the middle of nine children, to a Baptist Minister and a Domestic Worker, In Covington, Georgia. She grew up singing in her Church Choir and School Chorus. As well as, playing the flute in both the marching band and concert band.
Ellia attended Clark College and Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, where she continued her studies in Music, and also Speech and Drama.
After having joined the ensemble players at the prestigious Alliance Theater, in Atlanta, Georgia, Ellia became thoroughly dedicated to a life of acting and singing. It was befitting that she'd travel to New York City, to pursue a career in Theater, and then venture out to Los Angeles, in pursuit of her film and television career.
Ellia added to her body of considerable work" "Recording Artist/Music Producer, and Arranger," with the release of her hit single "That's What Faith Is/You Gotta Believe It" Available on iTunes.
Ellia also added to her body of work, the title "Author," with the publication of her book, "I AM THAT I AM," A Journey Through Ad-Ol-Less-Sense (Xulon Press) and is now working on her book on tape "I AM THAT I AM, Remix CD (A Work In Progress) COMING SOON!
